MICHELIN Power Slick tyres set for one of the most complete circuits on the MotoGP™ calendar
• The seventh round of the 2026 FIM MotoGP™ World Championship takes place this weekend at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello in Tuscany, Italy.
• A benchmark for technical complexity, the Italian circuit combines high speeds, elevation changes, heavy braking zones and high-speed direction changes.
• Michelin is bringing a proven tyre allocation designed to provide its partners with the optimum balance of stability, performance and consistency on one of the most demanding tracks of the season.

The Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello is one of the most iconic venues on the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship calendar. Nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, just a few kilometres from Florence, it has hosted Grand Prix racing for nearly half a century and remains a favourite among both riders and fans. Surrounded by forests and wide green spaces, the circuit offers spectacular views and contributes to the unique atmosphere of the event.

Measuring 5.245 km in length, the Mugello layout features nine right-hand turns and six left-hand turns. It is particularly famous for its 1.141 km straight, one of the longest on the MotoGP™ calendar, where motorcycles reach some of the highest speeds of the season. However, the Italian venue is about far more than outright speed. Its combination of fast and slow corners, demanding direction changes, significant elevation shifts and extremely heavy braking areas makes it one of the most spectacular and technically challenging circuits in the championship.

Mugello is undoubtedly one of the most complete circuits on the championship calendar,” explains Piero Taramasso, Michelin Motorsport Two-Wheel Competition Manager. “It brings together all the characteristics that can be found in MotoGP: a very long straight, extremely heavy braking zones, fast corners, tighter turns, as well as uphill and downhill sections. That is precisely what makes it so popular with both riders and fans. To perform well at Mugello, a rider must be highly versatile and able to master every aspect of riding. The riders who excel here are generally those with the most complete riding style.

For the tyres, the main challenge is achieving the best possible motorcycle balance. Stability is a key factor because the circuit features numerous direction changes, some of them taken at very high speed. The tyres must deliver precise handling in order to keep the motorcycle perfectly stable throughout the lap. Strong acceleration, severe braking and exceptionally high top speeds generate significant loads that require an optimal balance between the front and rear of the bike.

In addition, while the Mugello asphalt is not among the most aggressive surfaces on the calendar and does not generate the highest levels of grip, it remains essential to keep tyre temperatures and wear under control. These parameters become even more important as performance levels continue to improve year after year. The tyre solutions we are bringing this season have already proven their effectiveness during previous editions of the Italian Grand Prix. They allow us to approach this event with confidence and provide our partners with the best possible conditions to fully exploit the potential of their machines.”

To meet the challenges of the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy 2026, Michelin will provide its partners with two front tyre compounds (Soft and Medium). These symmetrical tyres are based on specifications that have consistently delivered strong performance at Mugello in previous seasons.

At the rear, riders will also have a choice between two compounds (Soft and Medium). Due to the greater number of right-hand corners, the rear tyres will be asymmetrical, featuring a reinforced right shoulder designed to withstand the specific stresses generated by the Tuscan circuit.

Should wet conditions arise, Michelin will supply its MICHELIN Power Rain range in Soft and Medium compounds for both the front and rear, with profiles adapted to the characteristics of the track.
