Nigel Mansell took a stunning home victory at the British Grand Prix on this day in 1987.
Engaged in a race-long battle with Williams teammate Nelson Piquet, the Briton elected to unusually stop for fresh tires, emerging 29 seconds behind Piquet with 28 laps remaining.
What followed was classic Mansell; he began an epic charge, breaking the lap record eight times to the delight of the over 100,000 strong British crowd. Mansell overtook Piquet with three laps remaining, sending Silverstone into delirium.
