The great Juan Manuel Fangio won his last race for Maserati before departing for Mercedes on this day in 1954.
At a sunny Belgian Grand Prix, Fangio, despite pulling into the pits to fix a broken visor strap, raced to a commanding victory of the second place Maurice Trintignant.
It was also the first podium for a young Stirling Moss, driving a privateer Maserati 250F. Moss's talent did not go unnoticed, and the Englishman earned himself a drive with Mercedes-Benz the following season. His teammate? One Juan Manuel Fangio.
