Work continues for the Repsol Honda Team at the Jerez Test

Joan Mir had the full focus of the Repsol Honda Team as he ran solo at the post-race Jerez Test, completing 67 laps.

Work continued uninterrupted for the Repsol Honda Team as the action in Jerez resumed with the first in-season MotoGP Test of the year. It was a busy day for Joan Mir, running alone as Marc Marquez continues his recovery.

Over the course of the day, Mir completed 67 laps with a best time of 1'37.516 coming late in the day. He concluded the test in 15th, but outright lap time was not the primary focus. The #36 suffered a fall at Turn Six just before lunch, walking away unharmed and returning to the circuit after repairs to his Honda RC213V.

Alongside working on improving his overall feeling on the bike, Mir tried several pieces to improve his ergonomics as well as multiple aeropackage pieces over the course of the day. Each lap helped Mir and the HRC engineers to understand what is needed to return Mir to the promising form he showed at the start of the season.

The season continues with the French GP in Le Mans, May 12 – 14.

"It was a positive day overall. We worked to improve our base setup and we were able to try many different things like aerodynamics and some items to make me more comfortable on the bike. Crashing during a test complicates things because you have to change your plans a bit, even so we did most things. I think we have improved our base which will help for the next race. An intense but short test, now we try and relax a little bit and come back stronger in Le Mans."
