A technical and familiar layout
Built in 1969 and extensively modernized from 1993 onwards, the Misano circuit has hosted MotoGP™ every year since 2007. It has been run clockwise since then, over a distance of 4.226 km.
The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is renowned for its flat and technical layout, highly demanding on the front tyre but less so on the rear. Both top speed and average speed are lower than in Barcelona, but certain sections – such as Curvone (a long, very high-speed right-hander) or Tramonto (a banked hairpin) – place significant strain on the tyres.
Another particularity: Misano is frequently used for private testing throughout the season. Teams know the layout extremely well, as does Michelin, which has enriched its database over years of racing and testing. This shared experience ensures optimal working conditions.
Weather and atmosphere conducive to spectacle
The proximity to the sea often brings pleasant weather with moderate temperatures. Ambient humidity can sometimes influence grip, but overall, the conditions are ideal for a weekend of performance and spectacle. True to its reputation, the Misano crowd promises to be large and passionate.
Back on track on Monday
The day after the Grand Prix, an official test session will take place at the circuit. Michelin will support its partners there without introducing any new products: the MICHELIN Power MotoGP range will remain unchanged for 2026.
Piero Taramasso, Two-Wheel Motorsport Manager, Michelin Motorsport
"Misano is a circuit we know very well, as it is used year-round for private testing. We therefore have a wealth of data, which allows us to arrive with a perfectly tailored tyre allocation. We decided to adopt the same approach as on other recent circuits such as Balaton and Barcelona: a symmetrical Soft and Medium at the front, and a Hard combining the stiffest casing with the Medium compound. This choice provides the ideal balance between consistency, stability, and rider feedback.
At the rear, we stick with the Soft and Medium specifications that proved highly satisfactory last year. They are asymmetrical, with a reinforced right shoulder, essential at Misano given its ten right-hand corners. This circuit is less severe on tyres than Barcelona: the asphalt offers better natural grip, top speed and average speeds are lower, and there is no elevation. But Misano remains demanding on the front, particularly in sections like Curvone or Tramonto, where the precision and stability of the front tyre are crucial.
We expect a closely contested weekend, with mild weather and an exceptional atmosphere thanks to the passion of the fans. And on Monday, we will be back on track for an official test with our partners, as part of the ongoing preparation for next season. It is always a valuable moment to fine-tune settings and confirm that our range is ready to meet the challenges ahead."
