Penske and Parnelli: the two huge US teams who turned their backs on F1 |

US racing legend Parnelli Jones was born on this day in 1933. 41 years later, his was one of two American teams to join F1, but both lasted little more than two years in the championship. Today's Great Read charts their roller-coaster ride.
A vigorous battle between the Parnelli of Mario Andretti and John Watson's Penske enlivened the early stages of the 1976 South African GP, the second round of the championship. And although the Parnelli had a lame engine, and the Penske was suffering from acute oversteer because of incorrect tyre pressures, they went on to finish sixth and fifth respectively. |

Among the first consignments are a spectacular Verde Pino 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4, 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition, and 1962 Porsche 356 B 1600 D'Ieteren "Twin Grille" Roadster.
