After a five-year absence, the Brno circuit is back on the MotoGP calendar. This venue is an integral part of the history of top-level motorcycle racing, having hosted its first motorcycle competitions back in the 1930s, when it was known as Masaryk. Over time, the original layout, which measured 29 km, was reduced to 11 km and eventually to its current 5.403 km. The difference in altitude between the highest and lowest points is 73 meters, underlining its unique character and making it the most undulating track on the calendar. It boasts 14 turns, including 6 to the left, as well as 5 straights where bikes can exceed 310 km/h. This is a circuit that demands balanced performance, where bike handling and tyre quality will make all the difference.
"We are very happy to return to the Brno circuit", says Piero Taramasso, Michelin Two-Wheel Motorsport Manager. "Not only is it a beautiful venue, it is also a race weekend where fans come from all over Europe, from both East and West, and where the show is always intense. From a technical standpoint, we see this track as a challenge because it is the most undulating of the season, with impressive elevation changes. Moreover, since the asphalt has been completely redone, we have very little data on its properties. Two teams have conducted tests there and reported good grip and a smooth surface, but we still lack feedback on the thermal behaviour of the track, whose dark nature should promote heat retention. To prepare our tyre package, we also looked at data from a similar profile circuit, such as Mugello in Italy. Between this pre-race analysis and the crucial Friday tests, we believe our partners will find the right combination to perform."
As this is effectively a “new” circuit in terms of asphalt, Michelin will offer its partners three symmetrical compound choices (Soft, Medium, Hard) for the front tyre, and three asymmetrical mixes (Soft, Medium, Hard) for the rear.
The right-hand side of the tread will be reinforced to cope with the higher number of right-hand corners.
In case of rain, Michelin will supply its MICHELIN Power Rain range in Soft and Medium compounds for both front and rear, following the same profile as the MICHELIN Power Slick range.

The weekend schedule
For the 2025 edition of the Tissot Grand Prix of Czechia, on-track action will begin on Friday, July 18, with a morning practice session, followed by a second session in the afternoon that will allow the ten fastest riders to progress directly to the second qualifying stage (Q2) on the following day. After a final free practice session on Saturday morning, Q1 will give two more riders a chance to secure a spot, ultimately defining the starting grid through Q2. The Sprint race (10 laps) will take place on Saturday at 3:00 pm, and the Grand Prix (21 laps) on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
