Today is the anniversary of no less than three amazing British Grand Prix.
On this day in 1965, Jim Clark, nursing a misfiring Lotus 33, held off the BRM of Graham Hill to win at Silverstone by just over three seconds. British entrants took the top five finishing places, with John Surtees and Jackie Stewart finishing well.
On this day in 1988, Ayrton Senna stormed to victory at a wet Silverstone, one of eight wins for the Brazilian en-route to his first ever Formula 1 World Championship. The biggest cheer of the day however, was reserved for home hero Nigel Mansell, who battled from 11th on the grid to finish second.
Finally in 1994, Damon Hill won one of the most controversial British Grand Prix ever. Michael Schumacher was shown the black flag for overtaking Hill during the formation lap, which the German shockingly ignored and stayed out on track. Benetton were later fined $500,000 and Schumacher banned for two races.
Three great drivers, three great British Grand Prix. Which is your favourite?
