Formula 1 icon David Coulthard was born on this day in 1971.
Born in Twynholm, Dumfries and Galloway, he was a constant presence in Formula 1 between 1994 and 2008. Third place in the drivers' championship on four occasions and runner up in 2001, the Scot was an extremely capable and consistent driver who often gets overshadowed by others drivers.
Coulthard was influential at Red Bull Racing during the team's early years, providing invaluable experience and cool-headedness as the team began their rise to the top of the Formula 1 mountain.
