Niki Lauda recorded a dominant victory at Interlagos on this day in 1976 to start his 1975 Drivers' World Championship defence in the best way possible.
Qualifying 2nd on the grid behind 1976 title nemesis James Hunt, Lauda started well and once past the Ferrari of teammate Clay Regazzoni, he built an unassailable lead, eventually winning by over 30 seconds from the 2nd placed Tyrrell of Patrick Depailler.
