| Dear subscriber, It's always strange looking back on an entire year. So much happens even in a quiet one. On the surface it may not look like a huge amount has changed on Motor Sport's website, but I can assure you there's been furious paddling below – and sometimes above – the surface. Motor Sport's website isn’t really Motor Sport’s in the sense that we produce/make, build/write it for you the readers. There wouldn’t be much point in it otherwise. So here’s what’s been going on and what you all have to look forward to. 2015 has seen the launch of the Motor Sport Database in conjunction with Peter Higham (the author rather than the 1950s Nottingham Forest and Preston North End forward). It really was just a beta launch in that we will be fleshing out the already extensive coverage with more race series and results in the months to come. Instead of launching different championships at different times we decided to put everything we had out there immediately, which included over 9500 results, 7,600 drivers and 188 championships over 121 years. To get all of that into a useable online tool it took roughly 32,620 lines of code. Read the full feature here > |
