The MICHELIN Power Slick tires tame the intense heat on a highly technical Tuscan circuit
• The MICHELIN Power Slick tyres prepared for this intense race weekend allowed all riders to perform without apprehension on this historic and highly technical track.
• Despite very high temperatures in the air and on the ground, the teams were able to take advantage of the expert recommendations of the Technical Advisors and the tyres from the French manufacturer.
• Using Michelin tyres perfectly suited to his riding style and his bike, Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) secured the 100th pole position of his career at the Mugello circuit in Italy, going on to win the Sprint race and the Grand Prix.

Since hosting the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship in 1976, the Mugello circuit has been a privileged witness to the progress of Grand Prix motorcycle technology and performance. Its 5.245 km track is particularly popular with riders, who know it by heart, especially as its layout has remained unchanged over the years. Mugello is also an exhilarating venue because it is here that the bikes reach the highest speeds of the season: regularly over 360 km/h, achieved at the end of the longest straight in the championship (1.141 km). This year, excessive heat added to the challenge, forcing the teams and Michelin’s crews to be particularly vigilant. With nine right-hand corners and six left-hand corners, some of which are very fast, the Mugello circuit causes tyre temperatures to rise very high, and only ranges with consistent performance, such as the MICHELIN Power Slick, were able to rise to the challenge.

« With this heat, the bike settings were crucial to limit thermal stress on the tyres », explains Piero Taramasso, Michelin Two-Wheel Motorsport Manager. “We recorded ground temperatures above 50°C on both Saturday and Sunday, but our tyres performed perfectly in all areas. During testing, we reached higher temperatures than usual in the tyres, but this had no impact on performance. The track record was almost broken in the first practice session, before being beaten by four drivers the following morning. For both the Tissot Sprint and the Grand Prix, most of our partners opted for Medium tyres at the front and Soft at the rear. These choices allowed them to engage in a high-intensity battle over the long haul without any drop in performance. This is all the more remarkable given that the track was difficult all weekend, not only in terms of temperature but also grip, which the quality of our tyres compensated for perfectly, even as they wore during the Grand Prix.”

On Saturday afternoon, Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) won the Tissot Sprint, ahead of his brother Marc Márquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and his teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

On Sunday, Marc Márquez also won the Grand Prix, once again ahead of his brother Marc. The third step of the podium was taken by Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team). To meet all the challenges of the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy, Michelin provided its partners with three tyre choices (Soft, Medium, Hard) for the front wheel and two compounds (Soft and Medium) for the rear wheel.

Given the higher number of right-hand corners, the rear tyres were asymmetrical and reinforced on the right shoulder.

In case of rain, Michelin had planned its MICHELIN Power Rain range in Soft and Medium compounds for both front and rear, with the same profile as the MICHELIN Power Slick range.

Records and statistics following the 2025 Brembo Grand Prix of Italy

By securing pole position, the 100th of his career, Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) set a new lap record of 1:44.169. He thus broke the record set by Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) in 2024 with a time of 1:44.504.

The very hot track conditions prevented any improvement on the Tissot Sprint record (1’31.416 compared to 19’30.250 in 2024). It should be noted that the 2024 race was 11 seconds shorter than in 2023. Marc Márquez’s best lap time in the Sprint in 2024 (1’45.198) also remains the benchmark.

In the Grand Prix, the situation is the same with a track time of 41’09.214, compared to 40’51.385 in 2024. It should be noted that this benchmark followed a 25-second improvement compared to 2023. This year, the hot conditions (51°C at the start) and the grip of the track did not favour performance. In these conditions, the lap record, set at 1’45.770 by Francesco Bagnaia last year, remains unbeaten.

The 10th round of the FIM MotoGP World Championship, as well as the 3rd and 4th rounds of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship, will take place from 27 to 29 June at the Motul Grand Prix of the Netherlands at the TT Circuit Assen (Netherlands).
